Small Engines
Prerequisite: 10th through 12th grade students

Recommendation: 9th grade Ag Shop Skills course


This course is designed to develop knowledge and skills in small engine maintenance and repair. Students will develop skills pertaining to tool and small engine component identification, parts specifications, engine operation, engine repair, maintenance procedures. The program will stress hands-on experience in all aspects of the operation of a small engines repair room.


This course serves as the CTE concentration course within the Ag Mechanics Small Engines pathway.

This course also qualifies students to participate in all local, state, and national FFA events/activities throughout the year as an official state and national FFA member.



Advanced Small Engines / Power Mechanics
Prerequisite: 11th or 12th grade students / Small Engines course

Designed for advanced students, the course content included advanced shop skills, hydraulics, electronics, heavy-duty electrical, conceptual physics, and basic welding.  Small engines are used to teach advanced small engine technician training, entry-level diesel mechanics skills, and conceptual physics.

This course serves as the CTE capstone course within the Ag Mechanics Small Engines pathway.

This course also qualifies students to participate in all local, state, and national FFA events/activities throughout the year as an official state and national FFA member.
